Whilst being help at pistol point whilst you drive in your carriage is a thing of the past, we are still subject to the crime of the modern day Dick Turpins.
Innocent drivers who are not breaking any driving laws are the victims of a crime that is virulent around the country. These drivers are being ambushed.
This is what can happen :
You follow and old vehicle on the road and you approach a roundabout, junction or slip road. This vehicle, which often has no brake lights, brakes hard and you cannot avoid slamming into it.
Sometimes there are two vehicles working together. The car in front of you might brake sharply because the second car pulls into its path on purpose.
If this happens to you, it is vital that you get in touch with a compensation lawyer who will be able to claim money back for you from these criminal motorists.
These “set up” crashes commonly occur at really busy roundabouts or motorway slip roads. The people behind the crashes have practise at blame the innocent drivers for the crash. gangs are often behind these modern highwaymen and they are able to repair cars and have many vehicles working at once. They charge the victims more money than they should over repair work and hire cars for the ‘injured’ party. They then make a bogus claim on the blameless motorist’s insurers, often inflating it for maximum pay-out and claiming for compensation for so-called injuries to the driver and passengers. Often the vehicle which they use is an old banger, which will probably contain the maximum number of passengers, all claiming to have been injured in some way and seeking compensation for this and probably loss of earning too. In this way a minor accident claim can escalate into a claim of £20,000 or more.
The massive scale of these fake accidents has left insurers on guard and they suspect there could be as many as 10,000 false claims from these gangs each year. To deal with the massive problem, the Insurance Fraud Bureau has been set up by the Association of British Insurers. The Bureau and the police work in conjunction to discover the gangs behind these road crimes and prosecute them.
Each day motorists and passengers are at risk from the work of these gangs. The criminals will be stopped when drivers, insurers and the police work together.
